Many Calypso divers want to hunt for giant megalodon shark teeth and other prehistoric fossils underwater, but they aren’t sure how to do it. We’re lucky to have one of the world’s best underwater hunting grounds just a short drive from Tampa, offshore Venice! As you've probably heard by now, there were great finds and fun last year on Calypso’s guided fossil hunting boat dives offshore Venice, Last fall, thirty-one Calypso divers found hundreds of shark teeth and other prehistoric aquatic and land animal fossils, including many prized giant Megalodon shark teeth.
Sure,
you can do a shore dive in Venice and sometimes find small shark teeth if you know where and how to look. Many divers do. But it usually takes a boat dive to find the BIG palm sized megs and other prehistoric fossils like tigers, makos, ancient dugong ribs, and even the teeth of mammoths and giant horses! Most are 3 to 8 million years old and have a beautiful black onyx sheen. There is great joy in the hunt, and even more thrill in the find.
So again this year by popular demand,
veteran Calypso tooth hunters Ed Zellem and Fred Blatchford have volunteered to teach their unique methods via Zoom and then dive with TEN Calypso divers who sign up each month: 5 on a morning boat and 5 on an afternoon boat! Expertly guided by Ed and Fred, all inclusive cost for the Zoom session and a 2 tank boat dive on is only $159 plus tax and the 3 tank boat dive is $200 plus tax.
DON”T MISS OUT! This is a popular dive, and spots tend to go FAST. You’ll come home with something for sure, and quite possibly some world-class Megalodon tooth fossils! You can choose between a morning (7:30 AM) or afternoon (12:30 PM) boat. AND THERE'S MORE - 50% off gear rental from Calypso, and tanks are included! You can reserve your spot NOW by clicking on the shopping cart beside the trip you want. Singles welcome, we'll make sure you have a buddy.
