Calypso is a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Center. That distinguishes us based on our experience as instructors and or ability to offer dive certifications from beginning all the way through the professional levels. Most of our instructors have been teaching for more than a decade, with some having over TWO decades of teaching experience! We also have an indoor, heated pool which allows us more time to develop your SCUBA skills because we do not have to waste time traveling to a pool site.
Who Can Learn to SCUBA Dive?
You don’t have to be an Olympic swimmer to become a certified SCUBA diver. Just about anybody who is comfortable and relaxed in the water — and who has the desire — can learn to SCUBA dive. This includes children as young as twelve and seniors of any age.
Can a 10 or 11 year old learn to dive?
All 10 and 11 year olds must complete a Discover SCUBA Diver course so that our instructional staff can assess his/her readiness (mentally, emotionally, and physically) for SCUBA Diving. If he/she passes this assessment, our policy is to require 10-11 year olds to take a private open water class. To find out more about this option, call, stop by, or contact us.
